OUR HISTORY

Decades of Bold Breakthroughs That Turn Products Into Best-Sellers

For over 70 years, Bay Cities has set the pace as a leader among industrial packaging companies.

1950s

In 1956, Bill Hanan launched Bay Cities and Arrow Container.

1960s

Operations move to Pico Rivera. Early clients include Owens Illinois, Mattel, and Neutrogena, with a focus on furniture and CPG packaging.

1970s

We doubled our space at 8315 Hanan, expanding to 110,000 sq ft to support our growing operations.

1980s

Bay Cities becomes employee-owned, merges with Arrow Container, and installs advanced equipment for large-scale packaging and performance testing. We enter the motion picture industry, ship our first full pallet display to Costco for Sony, and build a plant in Mexico for Mattel.

1990s

We upgraded our graphics, added a 5-color press, launched screen printing, expanded into the Sears building, started E&F Printing, and began vertical integration with LACORR. Greg Tucker becomes president, positioning us for significant growth.

2000s

We grow our facilities, move our corporate headquarters, enter the digital printing space, and establish a presence in Bentonville, AR to support Walmart and its suppliers. We mourn the passing of founder Bill Hanan in 2002.

2010s

We become 100% employee-owned, expand to Chicago and Bentonville, launch ENCORR (our second sheet feeder), and build our strategic planning foundation through Destination Modeling. Greg Tucker is named AICC Chairman as we celebrate 60 years.

2020s

We launch DIYpack.com, expand our eCommerce and subscription packaging capabilities, purchase Premier Packaging & Assembly, open Midwest packout and fulfillment facility, (233,000+ sq.ft.), open Cincinnati Sales & Design Center, and establish Digital Print Partners, Chicago’s first trade-focused digital print factory. We continue to grow with new facilities, investments in automation, and bold plans for the future.

The Visionaries Behind Our Success

Meet the team steering Bay Cities toward what’s next.

Greg Tucker

Chairman & CEO
44 years with Bay Cities

Known for signing off with “Happiness is a quality box” (yes, it’s even on his license plate), Greg brings passion, purpose, and a little bit of packaging humor to everything he does. A lifelong corrugate enthusiast with a sharp eye and sharper wit, Greg believes in craftsmanship, creativity, and doing work that makes a lasting impact. If you lose him at Costco, check the packaging aisle; he’ll be the one flipping over boxes to see who made them. His latest motto? “We give a sheet.”

Corrugate Superpower:
Turning corrugate into a competitive edge, and ownership into the ultimate motivator.

Sahar Mehrabzadeh

Chief Revenue Officer
20 years with Bay Cities

To Sahar, corrugate is more than packaging, it’s a canvas for creativity and a tool for brand impact. From pop-up mazes for kids to displays that double as giving trees, she’s built unforgettable experiences that drive results. With 20 years at Bay Cities, Sahar knows how to take ideas from sketch to shelf with style and strategy.

Corrugate Superpower:
Seeing the sales potential of a sketch before it hits the table. Just call her “The Shipper Whisperer”, she makes packaging talk, and customers listen.

Pat Donohoe

President & Chief Financial Officer
9 years with Bay Cities

Pat’s been keeping an eye on corrugate for nearly a decade, literally. From spotting museum-worthy pieces in Spain to setting up a dragon display in-store (don’t worry, it didn’t breathe fire), he brings curiosity and a sharp sense of humor to the box biz. As President & CFO, he makes sure the numbers add up, the margins stay strong, and no one in his family ever buys moving boxes on Amazon again.

Corrugate Superpower:
Finding the hidden value in everything, from EBITDA to oddly shaped display wings. If it folds, he’s already figured out how it pays off.

Jim Hawton

Chief Information Technology Officer
34 years with Bay Cities

Jim Hawton has been shaping the future of technology at Bay Cities since 1991, starting in the Design Department and helping lead the company’s digital transformation long before it became a buzzword.

Now as Chief Information Technology Officer, Jim drives innovation through automation, AI, and data-driven systems that power everything from production to customer experience.

Corrugate Superpower:
Turning tech into tangible value by digitizing the box biz one workflow, one dashboard, and one perfectly executed process at a time.

Stephanie Navasu

Director of Human Resources
7 years with Bay Cities

Stephanie believes that great packaging and great teams have something in common: both are built with care, creativity, and a human touch. With 7 years at Bay Cities, she’s passionate about creating a workplace where people feel supported, seen, and inspired to grow. Whether it’s building strong culture or supporting standout packaging, Stephanie’s focus is always on meaningful connection.

Corrugate Superpower:
Spotting potential in people the way our designers spot structure in a flat sheet, then helping it all take shape.

Natalie Tucker

Director of eCommerce, Strategic Partnerships & Design
19 years with Bay Cities

With nearly two decades at Bay Cities, Natalie blends creative vision with strategic thinking to lead eCommerce and design initiatives that move brands forward. Whether she’s building bold digital-first packaging experiences or forging powerful retail partnerships, Natalie brings a sharp eye and a collaborative spirit to every project. Her work lives at the intersection of design, innovation, and results, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Corrugate Superpower:
Turning pixels into packaging and bridging digital strategy and design to create experiences that click and convert online.

Richard Khojayan

Chief Operating Officer
New to Bay Cities

Richard has led high-performing teams at some of the world’s most recognizable brands: Nestlé, Unilever, and Baxter, and brings that global expertise straight to the production floor. A certified Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP, and Agile Practitioner, he’s passionate about precision, process, and all things packaging. Whether it’s corrugate, cartons, or automation, he knows how to turn complexity into clarity and build systems that keep performance running at full speed.

Corrugate Superpower:
Transforming operational chaos into lean, profit-driving machines by uncovering hidden gains in scrap, downtime, and inefficient processes.

Bay Cities’ creativity and passion for their packaging and displays are out of this world! The team is great and I look forward to future business initiatives with them.
I’ve worked with Bay Cities on a number of projects and they have been extremely professional and helped us launch successful direct mail campaigns. [They always go] above and beyond. I couldn’t have done it without them.
I really appreciated how quickly your team was able to turn our vision into several unique options for our Costco Pallet program – one option being distinctly unique and ultimately the design we went with!
We work with both overseas and domestic suppliers, but Bay Cities has completely raised the bar. Their visibility, agility, and speed is unmatched. We know exactly where our project stands at any moment and, when last-minute changes arise, their team jumps in quickly, problem-solves efficiently, and delivers without delay.
The Bay Cities team produced a fantastic brand for our new product. In a short time, we went from words to having a solid brand direction that was spot on target. Their retail experience really pays off.

From store to your door,
be the brand they notice first

Work with Bay Cities to deliver packaging and displays that leave a lasting mark—
on shelves, online, and for the planet.
