Bay Cities Earns Two OMA Awards at Shop! Association’s 2026 Shop! Marketplace

We’ve always believed that great retail experiences don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of close collaboration, creative problem-solving, and a relentless commitment to bringing a brand’s vision to life. This year, that work was recognized on one of the industry’s most prestigious stages.

We’re proud to announce that Bay Cities has been honored with two Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards at Shop! Association’s 2026 Shop! Marketplace: a Silver for our Simple Mobile “Unlimited World” Campaign and a Bronze for our Oura Gen 4 Ring Costco Pallet display.

A Globe-Shaped Display That Stops Shoppers in Their Tracks

When Simple Mobile came to us, they had a strong foundation: a Literature And Merchandising Apparatus (LAMA) display that was clean, functional, and easy to set up. But they wanted more. They wanted a display that stopped shoppers in their tracks, something with a genuine “wow” factor without sacrificing the ease of assembly their retail partners depend on.

Our solution was as inventive as it was elegant. We engineered a globe-shaped structure using cross-partition construction, wrapped in an SBS band, designed to function in multiple ways. It could sit on top of the standard LAMA display or hang as a mobile to enhance visual impact at different heights throughout the store. The same globe element was scaled and applied to a complementary counter display, creating a cohesive brand presence across the store. Ease of assembly remained a priority throughout. The setup was designed to be completed using only a single-page instruction sheet, with a QR code linking retailers to a video guide for more support on the sales floor. The result was a display that felt ambitious and premium, without creating a burden for the teams installing it.

Built to Last in One of the Highest-Traffic Retail Environments in the World

Our installation approach for Oura Ring was clear: the display needed to be durable, visually striking, and engineered to perform at Costco, one of the most demanding retail environments in the country.

We built the core structure using a combination of MDF (a dense, durable engineered wood) and steel, providing the stability and longevity needed for Costco’s high-traffic environment. An acrylic showcase was placed at the center of the display to highlight and protect the actual products while maintaining a premium presentation.

One of our favorite details was the integration of silicone rubber ring sizers directly into the display, allowing shoppers to find their correct size on the spot, eliminating a key barrier to purchase. Magnetic, interchangeable graphic panels in the skirt added a layer of long-term flexibility, enabling graphic refreshes without disrupting the polished look of the installation.

What These Awards Mean to Us

Winning an OMA is validation of the thoughtful work that happens behind the scenes at Bay Cities. Every engineering decision, every material choice, every detail that makes a display easier to set up or more compelling to a shopper, reflects the talent and dedication of our team.

Congratulations to everyone at Bay Cities who contributed to these programs, and thank you to Shop! Association for continuing to set the standard for excellence in retail merchandising.

As we say at Bay Cities, we don’t just build displays. We build retail experiences. And we’re proud to do it for notable brands such as Simple Mobile and Oura, whose trust in our team makes work like this possible.
